On 18 and 19 March 2021, the National Assembly's European Affairs Committee, under the high patronage of Richard Ferrand, President of the National Assembly, organized an international colloquium entitled "Europe urgence, Europe espoir" in partnership with the Robert Schuman Foundation and the Jacques Delors Institute
This event brought together several European Commissioners, European and national parliamentarians, European officials, experts and academics.
It provided an opportunity to debate central issues for the European Union and answered questions crucial to its future: is Europe geopolitically marginalised ? does the universality of the European model belong to the past ? how to defend Europe ? what can be done to refuse the demographic collapse between family policy and migration policy ? how to act so that the European Union is in a position to take the lead in the scientific and technological race in view of the ecological transition ?
Its objective was also to identify the institutional reforms likely to be undertaken, with a view to the Conference on the Future of Europe, in order to strengthen the Union's capacity for action.
The conference was concluded by Clément Beaune, Secretary of State for European Affairs.
Simultaneous translation of the debates was provided in English.
